Dan McCormick established McCormick Group Consultants in 1982 with the sole purpose of creating new nonprofit organizations and providing services in structure, design and management to existing entities. Since then we have worked exclusively in that field. Dan and his daughter Kim are now partners in the family business. 

McCormick Group has facilitated over 400 nonprofits and foundations of all sizes in strategic planning, collaborations, partnership structures and mergers.

Our team has authored "Nonprofit Mergers; The Power of Partnership" and "Creating Foundations in American Schools" in addition to numerous articles concerning nonprofit merger, consolidation, foundation development and organizational structure.

Dan McCormick
CEO and Founder

Dan McCormick is the founder and CEO of McCormick Group.  A consulting company specializing in services to nonprofit organizations nationwide. McCormick Group lists among its more than 500 clients Boys & Girls Clubs of America, United Way Worldwide, Girl Scouts of the USA, The Arthritis Foundation, The National Hemophilia Foundation, The Humanitarian Aid Foundation, The National School Board Association, National Education Association, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Ford Motor Company, state governmental agencies, hospitals, civic clubs, associations, colleges, corporations, individuals and numerous public and private schools.
 
Mr. McCormick is the author of “Creating Foundations in American Schools” and “Non-Profit Mergers; the Power of Partnership”. He has many published articles concerning creating new foundations, school foundations, collaboration, nonprofit organizational structure, consolidation, merger and foundation development. These articles have appeared in the New York Times, Chicago Sun Times, USA Today, Chronicle of Philanthropy, Association Trends, numerous magazines, and countless local and regional newspapers.
 
He is a frequent presenter at various conferences and seminars in the philanthropic and the nonprofit organization field. McCormick also presented a series of lectures on developing a philanthropic sector at the request of the Ministry of Education and Health in Moscow, Russia in 1996. Recent major speeches include: The General Assembly of the Jewish Federation of North America, speeches in Washington DC, for the Non-Profit Roundtable, Microsoft Corporation seminars in Washington DC, and New York City, recent webinars and others.
                       
Mr. McCormick has been involved in major structural reorganization work with many nonprofit corporations including experience in negotiating joint operating agreements, strategic alliances and full inter and intra organizational mergers. His work focus includes organizational governance, NPO leadership, change management and the integration of NPO structures and systems. He has conducted complex best practice model engagements designed to ensure NPOs are functioning at their most efficient and mission effective level.
 
As part of the McCormick Group contract services, Dan has served as the executive director and or president for many nonprofit organizations. These positions include: The Michigan Foundation for Educational Leadership, The Great Lakes Center for Educational Research and Practice, the National Humanitarian Foundation and The Nicholas Sparks Foundation.
 
As part of his interest in community service Mr. McCormick participates on many local, regional and national boards including: Past Chairman of the Board of John Denver’s Windstar Foundation, the Michigan Liquid Asset Fund, The South Florida Golf Foundation at Doral and past president of the Board Of Education in Williamston, Michigan.  He served on the board of the Fripp Island Community Center, Fripp Island Long Range Planning Committee and is an elected commissioner of the Fripp Island Public Service District.
 
Mr. McCormick is an accomplished musician, avid golfer, sailor and glider pilot.  He enjoys traveling and spending time with his two successful daughters, son-in-law and two grandsons. Dan lives on Fripp Island, SC with his wife, Micki, and the family dogs.

Kim McCormick
President

Kim McCormick transitioned from a marketing and communications career to nonprofit consulting in 2013. Lured by the opportunity to help organizations better life on our planet, and by her father, Dan. Kim is thrilled to be working in the family business. Kim has extensive experience in guiding teams of volunteers and staff to meet their goals in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Her work with nonprofit organizations includes strategic planning at senior leadership levels and strategy and implementation of collaborations from MOUs to statutory mergers between nonprofit organizations with senior leaders and volunteers. Her approach is friendly and welcoming with an eye on the ultimate end-result and appropriate timing.

Ms. McCormick co-authored the second edition of the book "Non-Profit Mergers: The Power of Partnerships" with Dan McCormick and has presented content at conferences and published articles on collaborations and nonprofit mergers. She has served on many local boards and is currently the President of the Lexington Education Foundation.

Prior to joining McCormick Group Ms. McCormick was an integral part of teams at Arthur D. Little and Concord Communications supporting teams who helped businesses throughout the world improve their products and services in the boardroom and at customer interaction points. She holds a BA from Carnegie Mellon University and an Extension Program Degree from Harvard Extension School. Ms. McCormick enjoys sailing, hiking, running, and spending time with her family.
